Cardura is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). It works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Cardura is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is a type of drug called an alpha blocker, which works by relaxing the muscles of the blood vessels, allowing them to widen and blood to flow more easily. Cardura is available in tablets of 1, 2, 4, and 8 mg and is taken orally once a day. Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, and nausea.

Cardura should not be used in people with severe liver or kidney disease, and it should be used with caution in people taking other medications that affect the heart or blood pressure.
